Is America’s Future Being Aborted?

         Would you still consider getting an abortion if you knew the person who started them inspired Adolf Hitler? According to acts177.com, Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood, gave Hitler ideas in murdering “socially undesirable people.” People who would fall under this category to them were African Americans, Jews, mentally and physically disabled people, and pretty much most children not of the Aryan Race (blue eyes, blonde hair).  Think about all the souls, all of the opportunities of greatness taken away and never given the chance to live. In today’s society, many women claim they’re getting abortions because the way they got pregnant wasn’t planned or wanted. Abortion, no matter how the pregnancy occurred, should be illegal because it’s simply not the child’s fault.
           Most abortions happen because the mothers are young, unprepared, and scared. A recent statistic from the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform says that 93% of all abortions are performed because the women receiving them were unready and careless while having sex. Another informs that 52% of the women having abortions were younger than twenty five years old. These two facts clearly show that teenagers are unthinkingly rushing into intercourse at too young of an age, and even more carelessly getting abortions for their “mistakes.” Another cruel way unprepared moms try to terminate the pregnancy is by heavily smoking, drinking, and vigorous exercise. Ehealth.com tells us that in most cases, the poor baby doesn’t die, but is born with a severe and agonizing birth defect. Teen moms should give their children up for adoption, or simply not have sex until they’re ready to support themselves and a child. They don’t know what they’re taking away when they kill a baby.

When a child is aborted, a whole life of opportunities and experiences is stolen. Imagine a world without I-pods, I-phones, computers, thousands of jobs, anything made by the technology company Apple, all gone. Entertainment.howstuffworks.com shares the story of Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple, and how he was adopted not long after he was born to Paul and Clara Jobs. Think just for a second if his birth parents had decided to abort him; where would the world be without his ideas and inventions today? Other celebrities that were also adopted are Sarah McLachlan, Bill Clinton, Jamie Foxx, and many more. Another influential story of a life given a chance is the Florida Gator’s star quarterback; Tim Tebow. LifeNews announced Pam Tebow’s struggle on February 14th, 2010. While on a mission trip to the Philippines, Mrs. Tebow became ill with dysentery. Dysentery is an infection of the lower intestines that causes fever, severe pain, and diarrhea. Because of the medication she was taking to treat the sickness, while pregnant with Tim, doctors advised her to get an abortion for fear of getting a child with a defect. She refused, and gave birth to the extraordinary college football star that led his team to achieve a national championship, and the Heisman Trophy. Approximatley 42 million babies are aborted every year, 115,000 every day. Any one of those lives could have been the next Steve Jobs, or Tim Tebow.

Abortions being legal divides our country; aborting an infant is murdering. It’s a common law in every state that you can’t murder, and when an infant is aborted, it is literally killing a child. Tom Scheve, a journalist at the University of Georgia and East Tennessee, wrote a couple articles on conception. From what he states in his papers, the life of a child begins at conception, or the moment the sperm meets the egg. Another point of view to look at is the doctors giving the abortions and their thoughts on the subject. A new analysis by Medical News Today shows that 97% of doctors say that many patients come seeking abortions, but only 14.4% of the doctors actually perform the procedure. Why? Some say their religion and beliefs get interfere, others say it’s inexperience, but the clear answer is the overwhelmingly amount of guilt. After all, how would you feel if you killed babies every day as a job? No matter how much knowledge a person has on abortion, universities can’t mentally prepare people to murder children. Abortions being legal crosses the line of morality in our great nation.

    The other side of my argument believes that abortion is a woman’s own personal choice, especially in cases of rape or incest. First of all, how is it the child’s fault you became pregnant? Rape and incest are absolutely never alright in any case, and are probably the worst way a woman could become with child. However, even if she got pregnant in a horrifying way, the child should not be put to blame for the fathers crimes. Also, the rate of raped women getting abortions is 1%, compared to the earlier stated 93% of careless mothers. So, technically, the majority of abortions isn’t even because of something terrible like rape, but simply carelessness. The other side of this argument also believes women die at giving birth more than abortions. This is highly untrue, because Science Online reports that 67,000 women die every year as a result of complications during the abortion procedure. Only one in 4,800 women die of birthing complications. Which number is higher in death? Abortions.

    Some time in the future, you may find yourself walking near a trash can. Taking a second glance, you see dead babies lying amongst the garbage, cold and lifeless. An extremely gruesome and horrifying image, but it’s already the case today. At the rate children are being aborted these days, it isn’t completely shocking to find dead infants in the filth. Because abortion is legal, millions of potential lives are thrown away like meaningless pieces of garbage. If the choice is ever given, choose adoption over abortion, and give the innocent child a chance at life by making abortion illegal.
